SNAPS

This is the most critical link in the whole fishing outfit, and is probably the most overlooked.  Servo snaps, as I like to call them, are possibly the greatest cause of lost lures and fish.  I am shocked sometimes at just how poor an emphasis some people place on them.  Big cod are powerful creatures and most snaps can be blown away by a big cod strike.

The best snaps I have found are the Halco cross locks.  These are all I ever use!  They are somewhat more expensive at around a dollar fifty each, however a big cod lost would hurt a hell of lot more. If you are in any doubt as to the quality of your snaps then a loop knot is the best bet.
